Brian joined the School of Accounting on a full-time basis in August 2020 as an Assistant Professor of Practice. Previously he served as an Adjunct Instructor in the Accounting, Information Systems, and Entrepreneurial Management departments in the Drake University Zimpleman College of Business. Brian was named Adjunct Faculty Member of the year in May 2019.
Brian’s career spans 40 years of various consulting and entrepreneurial ventures. He spent 12 years in public accounting consulting with small to medium businesses on many topics, including the implementation of financial accounting systems. Brian also worked as a consulting program manager for such technology companies as Great Plains Software and Microsoft Corporation. His entrepreneurial ventures include an on-line toy store, barbecue catering company and his own consulting practice.
Brian’s areas of expertise include financial accounting and reporting, financial projections and budgeting, systems design and implementation, corporate governance, and managerial accounting.
Brian is active outside the classroom as a member of several committees of the Iowa Society of CPAs. He is also active with the American Institute of CPAs as an item author for the Uniform CPA Examination.
Brian continues the practice of accounting, serving as the Director of Finance of Iowa Catholic Radio. He is a founding member, former board member, and business manager of IOWA Service Dogs and the treasurer and Board member of the Catholic Radio Association. His consulting practice serves several local non-profits.
Brian holds an undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of Iowa, an MBA from Drake University's Zimpleman College of Business, and his Master’s in Accounting from Purdue Global University.
