Dr. Vander Naald received a B.A. in Mathematics from Miami University (Ohio), an M.A. in Economics from the University of Montana, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Oregon. Prior to his current position in the Zimpleman College of Business at Drake University, he was faculty at the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau, Alaska.
Brian's research primarily uses stated preference non-market valuation techniques to estimate values for understudied natural resources, such as glaciers (Alaska), endangered birds (Hawaiʻi), and sea otters (Alaska). His work has been published inJournal of Choice Modelling, Ecosystem Services,andTourism Management,among others.
