Dr. Changyue Hu is an Assistant Professor of Actuarial Science in the Zimpleman College of Business at Drake University. She received her Ph.D. in Actuarial Science from the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign. Her research interests lie broadly in applications of machine learning and data science in actuarial science. Her work focuses on developing tailored data-driven methods and leveraging emerging data sources to improve predictive modeling and decision-making in insurance. She has published in the North American Actuarial Journal and Insurance: Mathematics and Economics.
She teaches courses in actuarial science, insurance, and risk management, emphasizing the connection between actuarial theory, modern data analytics, and real-world insurance problems. She also enjoys mentoring students through research and applied projects.
