Dr. Stephany Castruita has a Ph.D. in Marketing at the Carlos Alvarez College of Business at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She also holds an MBA with a concentration in Information Systems from UTSA and a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Management from the Monterrey Institute of Technology in Mexico, where she focused on marketing of information technology products and services.
Her research interests center on marketing strategy, with particular emphasis on digital transformation, innovation in service industries, crisis communication, and consumer engagement and loyalty. Her dissertation research focuses on the entertainment industry and uses applied field experiments and quasi-experimental methods to study the financial and behavioral impacts of digitization and promotional strategies in movie theaters. Her job market paper examines the effects of digitization and innovation on movie theater performance in the Mexican market, and her additional working papers study promotional messaging during crisis recovery and consumer targeting under stress.
Stephany Castruita has presented her research at leading conferences and seminars, including the American Marketing Association Winter Conference, the ISMS Marketing Science Conference, and international departmental seminar series in the United States and Europe. She has received several honors, including fellowships from the AMA-Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium and the AMA Marketing Strategy Consortium, as well as multiple competitive research and professional development awards.
In addition to her research, she has extensive teaching experience as an instructor for undergraduate courses in Digital Marketing and Principles of Marketing, consistently earning strong student evaluations. She also brings prior industry experience in digital strategy and business development roles, including positions at Google and Cinépolis.
