Drake Psychology students conduct research under the direction of faculty mentors and present their findings at regional, national, and international conferences, as well as in peer-reviewed journals.

DUSCI

You have the opportunity to receive financial support for a summer research project with funding from the Drake Undergraduate Science Collaborative Institute (DUSCI). During the eight-week program, students work one-on-one with their faculty mentors on a research project of mutual interest. The results of the research are presented on the final day of the program in a forum open to the public.

Independent Study

You also have the option to participate in a research project for academic credit, as well as to complete the capstone requirement, by registering for Independent Studies credits in psychology (PSY 090/091; 190/191) or neuroscience (NSCI 190/191) with the consent of a faculty mentor.

DUCURS

Each April, students from all scientific disciplines at the university are invited to present their findings in oral or poster format at the Drake University Conference on Undergraduate Research in the Sciences (DUCURS). Awards are given for the best presentations. This conference provides an excellent means for you to learn to communicate about scientific research clearly to your peers and faculty, as well as to learn about all of the research going on at Drake.
