Our three program options share a focus on leading and equip you to empower your classroom, school, or district through the knowledge and skills you gain from the ED.S. program.
Ed.S. With Administrative Licensure
Our broad curriculum covers school-wide areas like instruction, educator supervision, data driven decision-making, legal requirements, and equitable leadership. The program also includes in-depth clinical experiences.
Ed.S. With Superintendent Licensure
With the Ed.S. Superintendent Licensure track, 30 credit hours of courses in leading complex organizations, finances, and public policy focus on the issues and competencies connected to district level leadership.
Ed.S. With Content-Based Emphasis
This flexible program has a compact core with 21 credit hours in a focused area of study that matches your career needs. Your choices include teacher effectiveness and professional development, leadership development, and literacy education. You can also add endorsements like K-12 Reading Specialist, K-12 English Language Learner, and K-12 STEM Specialist.

Pursue Licensure
Developed from the Iowa Standards for School Leaders, the program’s curriculum and practical experiences are structured to meet the requirements for principal or superintendent licensure in Iowa.

Hands-on Learning
Apply what you learn in a practically oriented program. Multiple hands-on experiences are embedded throughout program coursework to help you handle real-world scenarios and define your leadership.
Clinical Experience
The principal licensure track integrates your learning with an in-depth clinical internship to ignite your transition from the classroom to school-level authority.
Mentorship
All students are paired with a practicing administrator who serves as a mentor throughout the program. You’ll benefit from the guidance and support of an experienced leader who understands today’s education landscape.

The post-master’s Ed.S. program builds on your experience and background as an educator to expand your knowledge base and skills for effective leadership in primary and secondary educational settings all while upgrading your license in the process.
