Basic Rules
Please help us maintain a pleasant environment for working and learning by following these basic rules:
Standards of Conduct
All library patrons are expected to show consideration of others and cooperate with other library users and staff.
Food and Drink
Acceptable: Packaged snacks, cold sandwiches, fruits and vegetables. Beverages in non-spillable containers.
Not: Greasy, messy, liquid-based (soup), or strong-smelling foods such as fast-food and pizza. Food deliveries are not permitted to the law library. Food deliveries must be made in the hallway outside of the Law Library or Opperman 197 – Byers Student Lounge.
Please clean up any spills or messes right away—if additional assistance is needed, contact the library staff. The Library reserves the right to ask any patron to remove food and/or beverage from the library if in the judgment of the staff it constitutes a violation of this policy.
Note: This policy does not apply to library offices of faculty, staff, the Moot Court Board, or the Drake Journal of Agricultural Law.
Noise
The library is primarily a place for quiet study and research. Users are expected to be mindful of those around them and help maintain a quiet atmosphere. Users should turn off cell phone ringers upon entering the library and hold conversations quietly and away from people who are working.
Re-shelving Books
Users are asked to re-shelve books after using them.
No Smoking
Smoking or other tobacco use is not permitted anywhere in the library.
Note: Violation of these rules or other library policies may result in loss of library privileges or additional sanctions.
