Drake University requires a parking permit for all Drake parking lots. Visitors or students can purchase short-term passes with a debit or credit card at the Student Services Center in Johansen if an annual or semester permit is not needed. Parking can also be handled without a permit through hourly parking in our metered parking lots using Park Mobile (see additional information below).
Guests are also allowed to park without a pass AFTER 4:30 pm in Lot 1 (the Fine Arts parking lot) to attend evening activities. Free street parking is also available in the neighborhood, but please make sure to follow city signage and regulations. Also pay attention to the snow ordinances during inclement weather, as Drake is part of the Even/Odd Neighborhood Snow Removal rules.
Park Mobile
Drake uses ParkMobile to offer users multiple ways to pay for metered parking in our visitor lots (Lot 1A by the Dial Center, Lot 20 by Aliber Hall, and the Broadlawns parking lot). This is the same app used with the City of Des Moines parking system.
Ways to Pay
- Pay by App: The full-featured app for iOS and Android provides the most complete parking experience.
- Pay by Web: New lightweight mobile web experience lets you quickly pay for parking without downloading the full app.
- Pay by Text: Text “PARK” to 77223 and you will be able to quickly start a parking session.
- Google Pay: Pay with ParkMobile right in the Google Pay app. Plus, quick links from Google Maps make it easy to navigate and start a parking session.
- Register for a ParkMobile account: with your license plate number and payment method.
- Pay by Phone: Call the toll-free number on the ParkMobile sign posted in the lots.
