Add and Drop Deadlines

Effective Summer 2023, the Drake University adopted new add and drop deadlines and refund rules. Please review the information below carefully.

Adding a Course

Students may add a class using the online registration tools in Self Service through the deadlines outlined below. After the add deadline, students may add a class using an Add Drop Form if granted approval by the instructor and student's dean's office.

Dropping a Course

Drop Period: Students may drop a class using the online registration tools in Self Service through the deadlines outlined below. Courses dropped during this time will result in no coursework appearing on the student's transcript.

Drop-with-W Period: Student must use the Add Drop Form to request a drop with a W through the deadlines outlined below. Courses dropped during this time will appear on the student's transcript with the administrative mark of "W" (withdrawal).

Please note: Adding or dropping classes may cause your status to change from part-time or full-time and may affect your academic or financial aid status. We encourage you to speak with your advisor and financial aid office if you have concerns.

If you want to drop all of your classes, that would be considered a complete withdrawal.

Procedure: Students may add a class online via MyDrake through the Last Day to Add schedule below.  Students may drop a class online through the Last Day to Drop Without a W.  Instructions can be found here.  Drops that occur beyond the deadlines in the schedule require an Add Drop Form.
