To confidently stride into the world prepared to address pressing global issues, effectively lead diverse teams, or contribute in the global marketplace, individuals must be able to succeed in different cultural contexts and see their own culture from other points of view.
The Principal Center for Global Citizenship provides funding to support the critical work of the Division of Global Affairs ensuring all members of Drake University’s community have the opportunity to deepen their global perspective.
Support for Global Learning and Research

Our Student Conference Fund helps cover the cost of attending regional or national conferences that focus on international topics. Any undergraduate or graduate student is eligible for an award up to $500.
Grants
Grants open to faculty, staff, and students help Drake empower the world. Past financing opportunities have supported initiatives such as collaborative projects, research into humanitarian crises and climate change, student travel seminars, and bringing international speakers to campus.
Faculty, Staff, and Student Awards
Drake’s Global Citizenship Awards celebrate members of the university community who bring global perspectives to life—through teaching, learning, research, and engagement. With honors for both students and faculty or staff, these awards recognize individuals who advance intercultural understanding and help shape a more connected campus and world.
For Students
The student award recognizes an undergraduate or graduate student who demonstrates strong global and intercultural competency, often through research, collaboration, or service-learning experiences that create meaningful impact.
For Faculty & Staff
The faculty and staff award honors those who expand global engagement across campus—integrating international perspectives into the curriculum, creating opportunities for students, and strengthening Drake’s global reach.
