Drake University’s partnership with the Bahamas Ministry of Education marks a transformative opportunity for students and a milestone in global collaboration. As the first agreement of its kind for the Ministry, it reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to high-quality, globally engaged education.
Through this partnership, Bahamian students benefit from a clear and affordable pathway to Drake. Recipients of the $7,500 Bahamian Government Scholarship are automatically awarded an additional $5,000 Drake Bahamas Scholarship for their full-time enrollment (12 credit hours per semester). The scholarship is renewable each year—making a private, U.S. education more accessible. The Drake Bahamas Scholarship may be granted in addition to other scholarship awards. Students who demonstrate high need when completing Drake’s International Student Financial Information Form may also be considered for additional assistance from the University.
No application is required for the Drake Bahamas Scholarship, it will be automatically awarded to eligible students admitted to an undergraduate program at Drake University and will automatically renew for students who maintain a 2.0 GPA or better while at Drake.
Beyond financial support, the partnership strengthens connection and community, linking Bahamian students to a campus experience grounded in global perspective and opportunity.
Together, Drake and the Bahamas Ministry of Education are opening doors for students to broaden their horizons and prepare to lead in an interconnected world.
Undergraduate scholarships are available only to students enrolled at the undergraduate level, for up to 4 years total or until a Bachelor's degree is earned (whichever comes first). Students entering one of Drake's joint undergraduate/graduate degree paths should refer to program-specific policies to understand which years are designated as undergraduate-level for billing and financial aid purposes. Scholarships will renew automatically if all renewal requirements are satisfied.
