A sport club is a group of individuals organized for the purpose of furthering their interest in an activity through participation and competition. Sport clubs can be organized for any recreational activity for which there is sufficient student interest. The formation and initiative to start a sport club is dependent upon effective student leadership. The interest, the work, the organization and the the participation is the responsibility of the club members; and therefore, the success belongs to the sport club exclusively.
Recreational or competitive, these clubs are created to further interest in a particular sport and are recognized by the University. Drake students, faculty and staff are welcome to participate. All sport clubs are initiated and run by students.
Sport clubs allow you to compete at a high level while representing Drake University throughout the state, region, and nation. If you would like more information about existing sport clubs, or would like to start a new sport club, contact the Associate Director of Recreational Services at 515-271-3522.
