At Zimpleman, we believe in learning by doing. Zimpleman students gain firsthand professional experience through internships, with a majority of students completing more than one major-related experience prior to graduation. Networking events and professional development opportunities position you to shine when your opportunities arise.

Career Events

Mock interviews, in-person resume reviews, and professional networking events are just a few ways the Zimpleman Career Services and Professional Development office supports your career readiness journey. Events, including career fairs, are designed to both sharpen your skills and prepare you for the next steps in your professional life.

Internships

Zimpleman students gain real-world experience while contributing to organizational goals through their internships. While most internships are completed during the summer, Zimpleman’s reputation of well-qualified candidates provides opportunities in the Des Moines community during the fall or spring semesters as well. Interns have secured positions around the country and across a diverse portfolio of organizations. Most students complete 2 major-related internships during their time at Zimpleman.

Hands-On Practicum

For some students, their professional experiences happen right inside the classroom. An example of this hands-on experience is the Kelley Center for Insurance Innovation. The Insurance Innovation Lab connects Zimpleman talent from across majors with insurance industry executives to find solutions to cutting-edge issues.
