BullD.O.G.S. in Healthcare

D.O.G.S. = Drake Opportunities for Gaining Skills in Healthcare, a unique summer camp experience for high school students interested in healthcare careers. This year's BullD.O.G.S. in Healthcare camp will be held July 9-11, 2026 at Drake University.

What is BullD.O.G.S. in Healthcare?

BullD.O.G.S. in Healthcare is a summer camp program for pre-college students that will introduce you to a wide variety of careers and opportunities in the health professions and inspire you to explore different pathways. You'll participate in hands-on laboratory experiences, educational sessions, and interactive discussions with students and faculty in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to understand how to best prepare for a career in the health professions. Special emphasis is placed on promoting careers in nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy and many others. 

This in-person event is held on the Drake University campus and includes a two-night stay in an on-campus residence hall, as well as a number of activities. 

What You'll Do

  • Breakout sessions focused on Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy and Health Sciences
  • Practical lab activities in various areas of health professions
  • Interact with current students and faculty
  • Take an off-campus field trip to a local health organization
  • Plan remaining high school curriculum and extracurricular activities to boost college applications
  • Recreational games and activities on campus
  • Socialize and experience residential life at Drake
  • Eat meals at Hubbell Dining Hall

BullD.O.G.S. in Healthcare 2026

The 2026 BullD.O.G.S. in Healthcare Summer Camp will take place from Thursday, July 9, to Saturday, July 11, on the Drake University campus.

The BullD.O.G.S. in Healthcare Summer Camp is an overnight experience with a $200.00 fee for each participant. Financial assistance may be available to students who qualify.

Participants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled as a 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grader during the 2026-2027 academic year, or be a 2025 or 2026 high school graduate
  • Have an interest in careers in healthcare, math and/or science fields

Registration for this event will close on Monday, June 1, 2026 at 12:00 (Noon) p.m. CDT. Payments will be accepted until Monday, June 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. CDT. Participants who have not paid the registration fee by this date will forfeit their spot in the program. Refunds will not be granted for cancellations made after June 1, 2026.
