First-Year Students - The Quads
The Quads is a group of four first-year student residence halls. Explore them all: Carpenter, Crawford, Herriott, and Stalnaker. You can request to room with a friend or we’ll find you a roommate who matches your lifestyle and interests.

Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students
After your first two years on campus, you can request to live off campus in Greek housing, Drake West Village, Campus Suites at Dogtown, or other off-campus options.
Looking for a little more independence while staying close to campus? Campus Suites at Dogtown are designed for third and fourth-year students who have completed Drake's residency requirement. Located just two blocks from campus, these affordable single-suite accommodations feature private bathrooms and a comfortable, convenient place to call home.
Students living in Campus Suites at Dogtown are required to have a campus meal plan and can choose between academic-year and full-year lease options.

Drake West Village is open to Drake juniors, seniors, graduate, and professional students. The off-campus housing offers spacious apartments, three fitness centers, a game room, and quality customer service.
Drake West Village was inspired by a village concept – a space where students are part of a lifestyle community where they can live, work, study, and socialize. A semi-private courtyard provides a natural park-like environment, and space for residents to connect. A safe pedestrian link connects to the village to campus in easy, walkable distance.
Restaurants nearby include 8 Degrees Café and Boba and residents are just a short walk to Dogtown and its multiple dining and entertainment options.

Drake Real Estate offers university-owned apartments and houses for current Drake students who are ready for a more independent living experience. Located within walking distance of campus and Dogtown, these off-campus properties provide the convenience of Drake-managed housing while allowing students to enjoy greater flexibility and privacy.

We encourage and welcome those who identify as transgender to work with Residence Life in order to find the most reasonable and comfortable housing, regardless of the identifying gender of prospective roommates.
Two Year Housing Requirement
Full-time students are required to live in University housing for the first two years following their high school graduation. However students may be eligible for an exemption if they:
- Are married, or
- Live with a parent or court-appointed legal guardian whose permanent address is within 45 miles of Drake University (based on the address on file at the time of admission).
Students seeking to live off campus under the commuter exemption must complete the Commuter Application from the Starrez Housing Portal and receive written approval from the Office of Residence Life.
