Drake offers a Computer Science endorsement for K–12 educators, along with a Computer Science Specialist endorsement for those seeking advanced expertise.
The K–12 endorsement prepares educators to teach computer science at the elementary or secondary level, with a streamlined set of courses that build both content knowledge and teaching skills. To earn the endorsement, you’ll complete five courses alongside another primary endorsement area.

To pursue the Computer Science Specialist endorsement, 24 credit hours of computer science classes are required in addition to completing Drake’s core education curriculum and a computer science methods course. This endorsement is appropriate for people with significant coursework in computer science who are not currently teachers. Courses that count toward this endorsement need to be approved by a Drake academic advisor.
